As a project carried over from the previous fiscal year, we conducted joint research with research institutions and researchers within Japan and overseas, with the aim of contributing to the formation of economic development projects in Northeast Asia, as well as promoting their implementation. The outcomes of this project were published in English as a comprehensive economic development vision presenting the direction of economic development and economic cooperation in Northeast Asia. |

We conducted research into the status of use of Eurasian rail networks, such as the Trans-Siberian Railway (TSR) and Trans-China Railway (TCR), and publicized the results through academic papers and presentations at international conferences. Moreover, from the perspective of seeking to promote the use of these networks, we provided information to Japanese businesses and the Japanese government. |

In order to gain an understanding of issues relating to transport via multiple countries on the Japan Sea rim, we arranged the transport of an actual container on a route from China to Japan via Russia and the ROK, with the cooperation of a company that had established a base in China; based on the actual situation experienced, we identified and analyzed issues, and submitted a report. |

This was linked to discussions at a subcommittee meeting during the 2007 Northeast Asia International Conference for Economic Development in Niigata. |

The results were publicized through an issue of the ERINA Booklet, as well as academic papers and presentations at international conferences. |
