The 111th GSDM Platform Seminar

“Toward Northeast Asian Economic Integration”

Almost three decades have passed since the end of the Cold War between the East and West, and the political and economic situation in the Northeast Asian region has also transformed. Being established in 1993, the Economic Research Institute for Northeast Asia (ERINA) has been treading a path with a mission of contributing to peace, development and prosperity in Northeast Asia through the promotion of international collaborative research and business and economic exchanges. One of the recent collaborative research projects aims at investigating paths toward Northeast Asian economic integration by analyzing the achievements of past efforts, current challenges and future prospects of regional cooperation in key sectors. Such sector include trade and investment, people’s mobility, ICT, transport and logistics, finance, energy trading and cooperation, and regional integration initiatives under the GTI framework. Working with ERINA, this GSDM Platform Seminar intends to share the interim results of this research. Expert views on the implication of the recent USA-DPRK Summit for Northeast Asia will be elaborated as well.
